定義
社會性網路書籤(social bookmarking)是透過電腦網絡/網路服務進行的活動(Social Network Service)。使用者儲存與組織(這種個人化組織方式才稱為民眾分類學、俗民分類法、或自由分類法, folksonomy, folk taxonomy)他們個人的書籤收藏(或稱「我的最愛」)，並且分享給其他人。使用者也許可以從其他人儲存的書籤收藏取得想要的書籤，收納至自己的書籤收藏，就好像是訂閱其他人的書籤目錄 -- 一種個人知識管理(personal knowledge management)工具。 (本段落引用自Wikipedia: Social bookmarking，授權方式為 GNU Free Documentation License)
線上書籤分享網站 與 個人電腦中「我的最愛」差別
以下「書籤」(bookmark)或「線上書籤」，指的是線上版的「我的最愛」。
- 備份: 在網路伺服器儲存一份「我的最愛」的副本。
- 猜品味: 透過網路分享，可以讓你發覺跟你相同興趣的人，也收藏了哪些書籤，或者一同討論。
- 跟流行: 許多人收藏的熱門書籤是在熱什麼?
- 特定主題: 訂閱特定主題/標籤的新進書籤
- 書籤共筆: 經由設定特定標籤，共同分享特定主題的書籤。 ex1:Oui-Blog 共筆書籤; ex2:活動相片標籤
